The International University of Logistics and Transport in Wrocław – one of co-founders of the Academic Union !

It is our great pleasure and satisfaction to inform you that for the first time in the history of independent higher education in Poland the Academic Union was founded. Following the motto “United through Knowledge” the representatives of ten independent higher education institutions signed the foundation act on 27^th September 2008 at the premises of Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu - National-Louis University in Nowy Sącz.

Our School is one of the ten signatories of the agreement!

The Academic Union offers an enormous educational potential: over 70 majors, hundreds of specialties, MBA studies, partner universities around the world and what is most important, the trust of 40 thousand students and of 60 thousand graduates. “It’s just the beginning. We have invited other independent, trustworthy schools to join us. The Academic Union is a chance to share good practices and a possibility to create a unique offer for students and academic staff” – say the participants of the foundation meeting, which took place on 28^th August 2008 in Wyższa Szkoła Gospodarki in Bydgoszcz.

The members of the Academic Union will give up neither their academic autonomy nor their earned positions. However, they want to share their achievements and work for mutual advantage. Their main objectives are the quality of education, implementation of new technologies and conducting mutual scientific researches. One of the future priorities is the preparation of a shared educational offer. The Academic Union plans well ahead and that includes the creation of the Schools’ Union and the first independent university in Poland.

The Academic Union means new opportunities for students – once you enrol to any of the partner schools, you will have the possibility to use the resources of the others. That includes access to libraries, on-line repertories, residence houses, computer labs, language courses. The Union will actively support the development of young academics and scholars, sportsmen and the most talented students. All the activities supporting entrepreneurship will receive a special patronage. The same will apply to any action that would help in adjusting university education to the labour market demands. Each of the member schools has already defined their particular area of activities in favour of the Union, and the list of the members includes:

The input of our School into the Union will be manifold, but at the beginning we will cooperate in the following areas:

• transfer of the specialist knowledge and expertise in the field of logistics and transport,

• professional publications of textbooks and magazines,

• development of international platform for students’ and academics’ cooperation.

The International University of Logistics and Transport in Wrocław prides itself at having broad experience in cooperation with international partners (mainly from France). Having signed the cooperation agreement with the National Technical University of Ukraine in Kiev means new opportunities not only for us but for the whole Union as well.
